As a young child, Keelin Brett was drawn to all artworks: drawing, painting, silk embroidery, pottery, etc... especially those from asia. Her bead-embroidered jewelry is strongly reminiscent of a blending of these early influences.

Each piece starts out as a blank canvas—beads of the same hue or of complementary colors are “puddled” together by being lightly scattered on a mat and a suggestion of composition emerges. Sometimes the piece is drawn first on paper or inspired by a significant gem or fused glass piece. Most often the work is very organic gradually building a composition that is reflective of the inherent nature of the stones creating a composition that tells a narrative akin to a fine piece of art.

After completing her degree in Art from Simmons College, Keelin spent an extensive time in Japan teaching English and bead-embroidery as well as taking private Japanese language classes. The culmination of this time period instilled a true passion for her Asian inspired bead-embroidered jewelry.

She currently resides in Connecticut, USA.
